“Sport Truck” or ST, is just a placeholder. It is the generic name of El Camino-style 2010 Pontiac G8 variant based on the Holden Ute. Try saying “Ute” here without sounding like Joe Pesci describing a young person in “My Cousin Vinny”. GM holds an online contest to www.pontiac.com/ namethiscar choose a name. The result will be announced April 15.
It could have been after version late-1960s/early-1970s GMC Caballero Chevy El Camino. GM is “tripling” of its Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealers countries, and all you have to have a different nose on this issue. It was not the cost of a new nose, who chose to GM Pontiac GMC. E, to quote the product manager Brian Shipman, because the Ute of sportiness, and probably not the best solution for “Professional”. Two doors, he says, is more suitable for Pontiac.
This seems a weak argument, since GMC is about to get a second unibody, front-wheel drive crossover based on Pontiac Torrent, more and more the Acadia. And some Sierra pickups are two doors. Anyway, the G8 ST comes later in the fall of 2009 with only GT 361-horsepower/385 lb-ft V-8 and six-speed automatic transmission. Its wheelbase is stretched 3.7 inches over the sedan and 5.7 inches longer overall. The frame and structure has been reinforced to stiffen the body pickup.
Pontiac is not talking about sticker price, but it looks like it could cost $ 29.995 to repeat the G8 GT or order of a few thousand more.
Recipients? Warm, “he says smiling,” people of motorcycles and waveguides, and so on. The bed is 73.9 centimeters long and 47.4 cm in width between wheel housings. Payload is 1316 pounds, towing capacity is 2000 pounds, and there will be four-wheel drive. This could be a number of options, such as the LS3-powered GXP or V-6, but nothing more “cards” so far, Shipman says. Pontiac could change their minds and bring a nice wagon (call it the “Safari”) only if the market is changing dramatically here in the wagons.
There could be another cut, perhaps called “GTO” but GM says the new Holden Coupe 60 is more than a concept to date. What might be called Pontiac Ute to sell? This is a “segment bending” model, without the competition to make a proposal. In other words, Pontiac is in the dark about how it will sell as we are in ignorance of his name.
