New Lotus Evora S Chose A Mid-mounted Supercharged 3.5-liter V6 With The Carabinieri
Italian military police chose the Lotus Evora S as a vehicle for quick response – two units of the car service will be in Rome and Milan in a two-year period of time. The Arma dei Carabinieri, as we know, is a division of the Italian army and plays a similar role in Italy to Scotland Yard in Britain, in collaboration with the civil police.
Evora S has a mid-mounted supercharged 3.5-liter V6 with an output of 345 hp. The engine is mated to a system of six-speed manual transmission. The car accelerates from rest to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 277 km/h. The car is equipped with a double wishbone suspension tuning.
Both cars have several unique features that are saved to make them suitable for the police. The cars are covered in the official language Carabinieri paint job dark blue. With a built-out light bar and siren, the car is also equipped with voice recognition technology later, including EVA (Enhanced vehicle automation) system. A special portable refrigerated compartments are also mounted behind the front seats. This can be used for the transport of vital organs and blood, in the case of a medical emergency.
Special squad of the Carabinieri have participated in training sessions for a driver’s test track in the new headquarters of Lotus’ to Hethel, in Norfolk, where they were trained to deal with these cars, the spokesman revealed the Carabinieri Colonel Mark Minicucci. Group Lotus CEO Dany Bahar said that feedback from a training session for drivers in Evora S has been very positive. He added that he had the honor of the British brand to be part of the police.
In preparation for the task of the Carabinieri, both Evora was equipped with some of the latest speech recognition, including EVA (Enhanced vehicle automation) system. A special cooling laptops are mounted behind the front seats, allowing for the rapid transport of vital organs and blood needed in an emergency.
