With the new 2012 Volvo C70 Inscription, Volvo is looking to up the ante for luxury with its graceful drop top. Set to make its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show next week, the special-edition Volvo C70 adds a number or luxury touches and a boost in power for those buyers looking for something special. The sticker includes the price of a 2012 Volvo C70 T5 plus shipping and a $3,900 charge for the Inscription package.
Exclusive to the North American market, the 2012 Volvo C70 Inscription offers performance tuning to the Engine Control Module (ECM). Provided by Polestar, a Swedish racing and performance products company partnered with Volvo Cars, the tuning optimizes engine output in a variety of ways. More air and fuel are funneled into the combustion chambers and spark timing is advanced, creating notable performance gains. The turbocharged inline 5-cylinder engine generates 250 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 273 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,000 rpm. Seamless power is routed to the front wheels through a 5-speed Geartronic automatic transmission of 2012 Volvo C70 Inscription.
Volvo has yet to announce pricing for the C70 Inscription, but says that it will be a limited-production model. The 2012 Volvo C70 Inscription starts at $40,825; optioning a Volvo C70 T5 with the same equipment will run a cool $43,370. Volvo also offers an Inscription package for the S80 sedan, which includes similar upgrades for $1500 over the S80 T6 AWD’s $42,175 base price.
