Delivering performance and an even more aggressive look, the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline is a 426 HEMI®-powered showcase of new Dodge Charger Redline Mopar® performance kits that will arrive later this year. The Dodge Charger Redline vehicle with all three Mopar performance stage kits will debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show. The Stage One kit for the Charger includes a Mopar carbon-fiber chin spoiler, carbon-fiber door scoops and carbon-fiber rear spoiler. The Stage One modifications are based on the 2012 Charger R/T. The cabin gets a 2012 Dodge Charger Redline by Mopar aluminum shift bezel and instrument panel bezel with Redline perimeter accent.
Scheduled to go on sale later this year, the 2012 Charger SRT8 adopts the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 that first debuted in the Challenger SRT8 392, here making an estimated 465 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers are 5 down from the Challenger in each category, but, uh, who cares? The previous Charger SRT8 had “just” 425 hp and 420 lb-ft from its 6.1-liter V-8. We clocked the old SRT8 from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, and that’s about where Chrysler pegs this new car’s abilities (in addition to a stated top speed of 175 mph). But we think it will be a little quicker than that: We estimate the car will cover a 0-to-60-mph sprint in 4.6 seconds, reach 100 mph in 11.0 seconds, and blast through the quarter-mile in 13 flat of 2012 Dodge Charger Redline by Mopar. Not bad for a four-door sedan that should weigh somewhere around 4350 pounds.
As is the case with the 2012 Dodge Charger Redline by Mopar, the entry-level Stage One kit addresses only aesthetics. Building off the semi-sinister look of the stock 200 S, the Super S retains the darkened headlamp surrounds, but replaces the black-painted grille for a recessed mesh insert with a floating Chrysler logo. Front and rear fascias remain unchanged, although a large chin spoiler, flared side sills, and a matte black rear diffuser help the Super S stand out from stock sedans. The package also replaces exterior chrome accents with a satin chrome finish; adds a rear decklid spoiler; and throws in 10-spoke, 18-inch wheels painted either black or gray.
