2012 Kia Rio Surf Customized by Antenna

2012 Kia Rio Surf to create a special surf-themed concept.

2012 Kia Rio Surf is hitting SEMA as hard as ever this year with a new crop of cars to work with, including the stylish little five-door Rio hatchback. These two concepts, the Hockey and Surf, demonstrate not just the tuner-worthy basis the Kia Rio provides, but its utility as a hatchback as well. Both cars are customized by Antenna. Kia has teamed up with Antenna magazine to create a special surf-themed concept for this year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas. With a special sunset-metallic paint, custom gold wheels and a wooden front splitter, there’s no mistaking the machine as a run-of-the-mill Kia Rio.

The 2012 Kia Rio Surf car has also been lowered with a modified suspension for better handling while a new set of 17″ three-piece gold wheels finish off the exterior details. It also features a wood-grain-finished surfboard mounted on top, a wood front splitter, and brown and beige plaid upholstery that was designed to look like a pair of board shorts. But wait, there’s more. Kia’s SEMA presence also features four additional vehicles, including two designed and built by the famous West Coast Customs shop.

Under the hood, there are no surprises for you; it is also equipped with a 1.6-liter engine, just like other 2012 Kia Rio Surf cars. The latest vehicle from Kia has a class leading fuel economy of 30 miles per gallon (mpg) in city and conditions and 40 mpg on highways. Fuel economy is supported by an Idle Stop and go (ISG) system that powers off the power unit whenever the car stops. This is the first non-hybrid and non-luxury car with this feature. Apart from the ISG, there is an optional feature of start/stop system.
