Chrysler’s SRT brand has been very careful not to let spy photographers get a good look at the upcoming 2013 Dodge Viper. Most of the shots we’ve seen are clearly of last generation test mules, albeit ones with new Dodge Viper underpinnings. News of this came when the future sports car was shown at a private Chrysler dealer conference and then confirmed by Dodge CEO Ralph Gilles. SRT President and CEO, Ralph Gilles, has announced that the 2013 Dodge Viper will be revealed at the New York Auto Show in April 2012, skipping right over the Detroit Auto Show.
Speculation raises several possibilities, but the most frequent—and most likely—is a revised version of the 8.4-liter V-10 equipped with Fiat’s Multiair variable intake-valve timing system. Output could be as high as 700 horsepower if Chrysler/Fiat decides to challenge the ZR1 Corvette. If that’s the case, a more modestly priced version may be offered with Chrysler’s 6.4 Hemi V-8. The new Viper likely will keep its six-speed manual gearbox. We’ve vetted this with SRT’s social media folks, who confirm it’s 100 percent legit. If you want to see the new Dodge Viper, or at least part of the 2013 Dodge Viper.
If the DriveSRT Facebook page hits your likes, the Chrysler performance brand promises to release a teaser image of the new Viper. Guess we’ll just have to be patient. We should be seeing the next Dodge Viper in 2012, pegged as a 2013 model, just in time for the next “Super Car Olympics.” We can’t wait! Estimated arrival and price 2013 Dodge Viper: Late 2012, from $95,000.
We hope you enjoyed this 2013 Dodge Viper article!
