Powering the new 2013 Volkswagen Golf Mk VII will be the now well-known, turbocharged and direct-injected (TSI) gasoline four-cylinder engines. Displacement will range from 1.2 to 2.0 liters, with output as high as 300 horses in an all-wheel-drive variant. All diesel engines will be new and will meet Europe’s stringent Euro 6 emissions standards, which begin in 2014. A fully electric Volkswagen Golf has previously been confirmed to join the lineup in 2014 as well, showcasing a Volkswagen Golf Blue E-Motion nameplate. The EV will be powered by a lithium-ion battery pack providing 85kW of power and 270Nm of torque to the front wheels. It will offer a full-charge range of around 150km.

According to international reports, the 2013 Volkswagen Golf Mk VII will likely debut near the end of 2012. Production of the new Volkswagen Mk VII kicks off in August of next year, with first sales to begin around the end of that same year.
